Buying Bakery Equipment from Turkey: 8 Things to Check

Turkey is one of the major producers of bakery machinery. Before you order from a Turkish manufacturer, here are the eight things worth checking.

Turkey is one of the major producers of bakery machinery, and Turkish manufacturers supply bakeries across Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa. Buying direct from a factory can give you good value, but a bakery machine works every day for years, so it pays to check a few things before you place an order.

1. Are you talking to the manufacturer or a reseller?

Dealing directly with the company that builds the machine makes price, lead time and service clearer. Visiting the plant, or seeing production on a video call, is the surest way to know.

2. Does the capacity really match your needs?

Compare pieces per hour, piece-weight range and dough capacity with your own daily output. Ask for the full model table rather than relying on a single "capacity" figure.

3. Will it work with your power supply?

Check voltage, number of phases, frequency and power rating against your local supply. For ovens, agree on the fuel — gas, liquid fuel or electric — before production starts.

4. What are the food-contact parts made of?

Parts that touch dough or bread should be stainless steel or food-grade materials. This matters for hygiene inspections and for the life of the machine.

5. Which documents come with it?

Ask in advance about CE conformity, manuals in your language, wiring diagrams, warranty terms and the export documents your customs will need.

6. Who installs it and trains your staff?

Professional installation and proper operator training are what make a new machine productive from the first week. Find out whether the manufacturer sends technicians or supports installation remotely.

7. How do spare parts and service work abroad?

Ask which wear parts are kept in stock, how quickly they can be shipped and whether remote diagnostics are available.

8. How will it be shipped?

Agree on packaging (crating protects machines on long journeys) and on the delivery terms — EXW, FOB or CIF — so you know exactly where the manufacturer's responsibility ends.
